Chevron Protests / The National Ignition Facility
San Ramon-based Chevron announced this week that it would start tracking and reporting its carbon emissions, becoming the first big oil company to do so. But Chevron continues to be a target of environmental and human rights activists, who protested the company's annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday. In the first half hour, we look at the latest news and geopolitical issues surrounding the company. Note: Chevron declined our invitation to appear on the program. In the second half-hour, we get a preview of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's new National Ignition Facility. The lab says the facility, to be unveiled on Friday, will help develop alternatives to nuclear weapons testing, produce fusion-based energy, and shed light on the origins of the universe.
